Ensemble Schallfeld + Electronics
Ensemble Schallfeld presents pieces for ensemble and electronics by Davide Gagliardi, Bnaya Halperin-Kaddari and Mariana Ungureanu which have been chosen from the submissions to its
"International Call for Scores 2015 - Schallfeld goes electronic". For the jury the composers Gerd Kühr and Marko Ciciliani could be
won over. Alongside the program contains works by Richard Barrett and Fausto Romitelli.
Ensemble Schallfeld (once MusikKollektiv) formed up in 2011 from students of the master study "Performance Practice in Contemporary Music" of Klangforum Wien at University of Music and Performing
Arts Graz. The young musicians come from different countries and bring their specific cultural, professional and musical backgrounds to the common project. Ensemble Schallfeld doesn't regard
itself as a "traditional ensemble" but rather as a free collective of soloists, which acts in different formations and leaves space for the individual unfolding of its members. Already during the
short time of its existence it gained attention by top-class concerts and accompanying events (as e.g. the invitation of composer Franck Bedrossian, San Diego, to Graz) as well as boundary
transcending concepts (music theatre). Together with sound artist and engineer Peter Venus (sound direction, video) Schallfeld develops a program which focusses on newer and newest works for this
specific instrumentation.
